Myriota’s AssetHawk™ Wins Prestigious Good Design Award

6 Oct 2026

We’re proud to announce that AssetHawk, our satellite and cellular tracker, has been recognised in the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, Australia’s longest-running international design awards, for excellence in design, innovation and impact.

This year’s Awards are presented under the theme Design that Leads – celebrating the critical role of design in navigating complexity, driving innovation and creating positive change.

At a time of unprecedented social, environmental and technological change, this year’s theme recognises that good design is more than an outcome, it is a powerful way of thinking, imagining and acting. It challenges us to question what is, envision what could be and design better products, services, places and systems for people and planet.

Engineering a tracker for real world applications

Built for the realities of industrial operations, AssetHawk has been recognised with a Green Tick in the Engineering Design category. This is the second consecutive win for Myriota, with FlexSense winning in 2024.

Good design in industrial IoT is ultimately about solving real-world constraints without passing that complexity on to the customer. For AssetHawk, that meant designing a device that runs for years in the field, switches automatically between cellular and satellite, and can be rapidly deployed at scale.

Mark Norman, Senior VP, Edge Solutions said:

“AssetHawk is the result of our hardware, firmware and satellite communications teams designing a fit-for-purpose solution from the ground up. Having those teams work closely together let us optimise the antenna, power management and reporting as one system. AssetHawk also shows what is possible with our low-power network, running for years in the field on batteries. What we learn from building our own devices feeds back into the building blocks and solutions we provide to customers designing their own. Thanks to everyone who worked on it, including our partners, and congratulations to the team on their second Good Design Award.”

The jury commented:

“The Jury recognises AssetHawk as a well-engineered hybrid tracking solution that effectively addresses genuine connectivity challenges in remote industries. The combination of satellite and cellular connectivity, long battery life, ruggedisation and simple deployment demonstrates thoughtful resolution and delivers valuable functionality for large-scale field operations. The Jury commends the commercially practical approach that enables rapid deployment without specialised installation, while the integrated antenna architecture and intelligent power management showcase sophisticated systems engineering. The design successfully bridges critical connectivity gaps in logistics, agriculture and mining sectors, providing continuous visibility for global fleets and machinery in the world’s harshest environments. The Jury congratulates the team on creating an innovative solution that democratises enterprise-grade tracking through an affordable, scalable edge technology.”

AssetHawk was designed by Myriota with mechanical engineering design by techcreators, and electronic engineering input from Exa Product Development.

Setting the global benchmark for design excellence

The Australian Good Design Awards recognise excellence from around the world across 13 overarching design disciplines and more than 30 categories, encompassing Built Environment, Communication Design, Concept Design, Digital Design, Design Research, Design Strategy, Engineering Design, Fashion and Textiles, Next Gen, Policy Design, Product Design, Service Design and Social Impact.

Every project is evaluated by an independent Jury of more than 100 Australian and international design experts against three core criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.

Established in 1958, the Australian Good Design Awards are Australia’s longest-running international design awards and one of the world’s most respected design recognition programs.

For almost seven decades, the Awards have championed the transformative power of design and celebrated the designers, businesses and organisations using design to create a better future.
