EOLOGIX-PING’s :EVENT LIGHTNING FLEET – Satellite version is a lightning event monitoring solution for wind turbines designed for remote and low-connectivity wind farms.
The solution uses a magnetic field detector mounted inside the Power and Communication Module (PCM) installed externally at the tower base. The detector captures lightning strikes through the magnetic field induced by lightning current travelling through the tower structure. This generates an event message that is transmitted via Myriota’s UltraLite satellite network to the cloud.
The product is designed to:
- Detect lightning strike events on wind turbines.
- Capture low-current strikes that are often missed by radio-wave-based lightning location services.
- Help operators narrow inspections to turbines actually affected by lightning.
- Reduce uncertainty and unnecessary inspection costs.
- Enable remote wind farm coverage beyond cellular communication.
