Myriota Shines at Andy Thomas Space Forum 2024
As the global leader in satellite IoT connectivity, Myriota showcased its innovative solutions at the recent Andy Thomas Space Forum, highlighting how space technology is revolutionising resource monitoring and field intelligence across industries.

Space Tech Takes Centre Stage
The forum buzzed with synergy between industry, government, and academia, showcasing Australia’s continued emergence as a global space epicentre. This constellation of space enterprises came together to forge new partnerships and inspire innovation for the future.

Engaging Government and Industry Leaders
Our exhibition space drew significant attention, particularly from high-ranking officials, including Hon Ed Husic MP, the Minister for Industry and Science of Australia, and Hon Judith Collins KC MP, the Minister of Defence of New Zealand. We demonstrated our latest hardware device, FlexSense, to these dignitaries. FlexSense represents the most flexible and robust satellite IoT connectivity solution available, designed to meet diverse industry needs.

Paul Sheridan, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Myriota, remarked, “Engaging with government and industry leaders is crucial for driving innovation. Our solutions are designed to optimise customer operations and unlock new opportunities for better resource monitoring, connecting devices reliably across vast distances.”

Kanyini Satellite Launch
Kanyini was a prominent topic at the Andy Thomas Space Forum, highlighting its significance in showcasing South Australian innovation with the world. The discussions centred around the collaborative efforts that brought Kanyini to completion, showcasing the expertise of key players in South Australia’s space sector, including SmartSat CRC, Inovor Technologies, and Myriota. The forum served as a platform to emphasise how Kanyini represents a pivotal step forward for local capabilities and innovation in satellite technology.

Architecting Solutions for Real-World Challenges
Dr. David Haley, CTO and co-founder of Myriota, delivered a compelling keynote on satellite IoT solutions, focusing on practical applications:

These use cases resonated with attendees, highlighting the benefits of Myriota’s satellite network in providing affordable data anywhere, optimising business practices, and protecting natural resources.

Dr. Haley stated, “IoT is a key enabler for modern innovation across industries, and space-based technology is at the forefront of unlocking its potential. We’re excited to continue delivering solutions that propel our critical industries forward, such as agriculture, environmental management and defence, harnessing technology from a flourishing space sector.”

Global Collaborations and Future Prospects
The forum attracted high-level delegations from India, New Zealand, Korea, and the US, underscoring the global significance of Australia’s space sector. Myriota engaged in discussions around our satellite connectivity through to the monitoring use cases it is unlocking, reflecting growing international interest in Australian space capabilities.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Myriota attended the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) stream on Day 2. We heard from a diverse and talented group of speakers about making space careers more accessible, dreaming big on indigenous engagement in space, using space to generate early interest in STEM and improve gender diversity, and understanding the value of neurodiversity.

Dr. Haley said, “Whenever I see a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion session on a conference agenda, I look forward to attending. There is always so much to learn from these sessions. It’s great that the Andy Thomas Foundation has included DEI on the agenda. I’m grateful to the speakers for sharing their lived experiences and helping us all improve the space industry, while positively influencing other industries and future generations.”

Inspiring the Next Generation
Myriota participated in the Space Passport programme, a series of sessions where STEM and space professionals engage with school children. These sessions aim to spark interest in space-related careers, promote the value of space in everyday life, and educate young students about exciting future careers in STEM.

As space technology advances and becomes increasingly embedded in everyday life, Myriota remains committed to unlocking new opportunities and delivering impactful IoT solutions for diverse industries.
